CHAPTER

ONE

The Power of vision

“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law happy is he” Proverbs 29:18 KJV

Also read Habakkuk 2:1-3.

Vision is the mental picture of a desirable future. Either it is a spiritual task or a physical task (e.g. Business) we must have a vision, then a Mission, then Objectives and lastly goals.

Mission is a broad statement of the task which has been formed as a vision. Objective is a statement of the intention to pursue and accomplish the Mission. The goal is the statement of the final destination or what is intended to achieve at the end. For one to be successful, these four must be in place. Some people just have a goal without vision, mission and objectives, so they failed.

Divine calling is a call from God to carry out a particular task. One could be called by God to carry out a task spiritually (e.g. Ministry) or secular (e.g. Business). God called Joseph to preserve mankind during the worldwide famine through the storage of food during the period of surplus.

Divine calling is centred on helping people to be better. God could call one to be a Medical Doctor, Businessman, Pastor etc. What a divine calling entails is that it is service driven. The main aim is how to better the lives of people on the Earth.

We have seen in the introduction that we were first created as spirit-beings before we were formed in our mothers’ womb. When we were created as spirit-beings, God gave us some tasks to fulfill on the Earth. On getting to the Earth through the physical birth, the devil cuts us off from these purposes that God created us on the Earth for. Therefore, for us to be in tune with what God created us for, we need to be connected to the purpose we were created on the Earth for.

The first thing that God does in bringing us into the fulfillment of His purpose is to give us a vision. The vision will keep us in tune with the purpose of God in the time of trials. As physical-beings, we are moved easily with what we can see. Therefore, the vision will create a sight for us in our mind which will guide us through the purpose.

God could reveal His vision to us through dreams or open vision or inspiration.

“And Jacob went out from Beersheba and went toward Haran. And he lighted upon a certain place and tarried there all night because the sun was set and he took of the stones of that place; and put them for his pillows and lay down in that place to sleep. And he dreamed and behold a ladder set up on the earth and the top of it reached to heaven and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it” Genesis 28:10-12 KJV

This is an example of a vision through dream. This is the commonest way that God reveals His purpose to His people. In the above scripture, God revealed His purpose to Jacob. Visions are always symbolic representations that need to be interpreted by God to us. God revealed His purpose to many people in the bible through dreams e.g. Joseph, Nebuchadnezzar, Pharaoh etc.

Not all dreams are from God. The devil too reveals himself through dreams to people. Therefore, we must confirm the spirits as we were told in 1John 4:1-3. The vision from God never creates fear in us. It is peaceful. Any vision that creates fear in us is not from God. Whenever God appears to His children, they experience His peace but whenever He appears to His enemies, they are the ones that experience His fear. If you are a child of God whom God is revealing His purpose to, the vision will be peaceful.

May you fully fulfill the purpose of God for your life in Jesus name.
